I'm Smart

Paulie's sick
So I drive papa to town
Where he stops at the office and
Gathers oranges and a green pepper.
Now he's sprawled on his side
Red flowing from so many holes
While I sit on the curb
Watch my world fall away
My brain swelling
Now the others have confirmation of my weakness
They think I'm mentally handicapped
I'm not dumb
I'm smart
But that's only hearsay now
Because everyone's great man
My papa
Has fallen.
I can't, is all I can say
Because that's my life
My future.
I can't.
